Content: This 2-day ICD-10-CM Coding for Post-Acute Care course focuses on the diagnoses that are often seen in post-acute care residents.
Presenter: Carol Maher is a Board Certified Gerontological Registered Nurse with over 30 years long term care experience who has been working with the MDS and Medicare PPS with single SNFs and large companies throughout her career. Carol is also a Certified Professional Coder (CPC). She has maintained her certification with continuing education and provides ICD-10-CM training to SNF clients across the country. Ms. Maher has authored and recorded and teaches the AAPACN certificate class regarding ICD-10-CM coding for Post-Acute Care.

Content: This wide-ranging 12-month compliance and risk management focused series will provide the healthcare professional with insight into the long-term care litigation process and best practices for avoiding lawsuits. Instructors will include a LTC Legal Nurse Consultant with guest sessions by experienced nursing home defense attorneys. Monthly discussion will include the LTC “Hot Topics” of falls and accidents, elopement, resident changes in condition, internal investigations, incident management, medication management, communication practices and fraud and abuse. Checklists and tools will be provided to assist in assessing and monitoring areas of high litigation risk within the facility.
