Essential Job Function: Provide leadership, clinical oversight, direction, monitoring, clinical management of of patients/residents, regulatory compliance with state and federal regulations, quality improvement and outcomes, policy and procedure implementation. The nurse manager manages the nursing care of assigned residents/patients and coordinates nursing services with other departments to ensure appropriate care. In collaboration with the DON, the Nurse Manager assists in the planning, organizing, developing and directs the day to day functions of the nursing department in accordance with current state and federal regulations. Ensure that nursing practice complies with regulatory and legislative requirements. Performs clinical rounds on assigned nursing units, ensure nursing staff understand and follow job descriptions, participate in the state and federal surveys with authorized government agencies as requested or directed by the Administrator and DON. Ensure assessments, reports, evaluations, studies and charting is completed according to regulation, standards of practice and policy. Maintain appropriate communication with residents and family members. Ensure sufficient members of licensed and certified staff are available each shift to meet regulatory requirement and provide appropriate care to residents. Participates as in routine and daily care of residents to include but not limited to assistance with ADLs, nursing restorative plans and activities. Ability to effectively prioritize and manage high levels of stress/conflict.
Physical Requirements: Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress of the position and effectively communicate policies, procedures, regulations and report to employees, residents, families and government agencies as needed. Must have flexibility, personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents, employees, regulators and support agencies. Must be able to move at least 40lbs, bend, sit and display stamina to assist where needed.
Required Experience: Must have at least one year experience in LTC.
Educational Requirements: Must possess a State of North Dakota Nursing license and demonstrate knowledge and experience sufficient to perform duties.
