Shelly Peterson, President
Shelly E. Peterson is President of the North Dakota Long Term Care Association. Peterson has been President for the Association for 30 years.
Ms. Peterson has a Masters degree in Social Work with specialization in social planning and administration from the University of Denver. Peterson represents the Association before the legislative and executive branches of government and works with government agencies to assure sound long term care policies. Ms. Peterson has also been very involved in long term care issues on a national level.
Shelly is past President of the American Society of Health Care Executives. She has served on many national committees studying quality of care, staff retention, and women's health issues. Prior to her employment with the Association, she worked for the North Dakota Department of Human Services for 11 years.
Peggy Krikava, Education Director
Peggy Krikava is the Director of Education. Peggy has been the Education Assistant of the Association since March 2015. Peggy will be responsible for planning and coordination of statewide educational events for long term care member facilities.
Prior to joining the NDLTCA, Peggy worked for Sanford Health (formerly Medcenter One) for 15 years. She worked in the Marketing Department as the Office Manager and most recently had been promoted to Project Coordinator in digital marketing. She also worked in the Foundation as their Annual Support Manager.
Carol Ternes, Executive Assistant
Carol is the Executive Assistant and will be responsible for office operation and assist with member services.
Prior to joining the Association, Carol was with AVI Systems, Inc. for 30 years as their Branch Administrator.
Susan Bahmiller, Education Assistant
Prior to joining North Dakota Long Term Care Association, Susan worked for Bismarck State College for 2 years. She worked in the Continuing Education Department as the Program Coordinator. Susan also previously worked for Cambium Education, Inc., in Dallas, Texas for 10 years. She worked in the Training Operations Department as the Training Operations Specialist and most recently had been promoted to Bids and Contracts Coordinator.
Vanessa Raile, Director of Emergency Planning
Vanessa J. Raile has been hired as the Director of Emergency Planning. In this position she will work with long term care facilities in North Dakota to assist them in being prepared for unexpected disasters. Having staff trained in the event of an emergency improves the outcome in assuring everyone is safe.
Prior to joining NDLTCA, Vanessa worked with Puklich Chevrolet as the Process Coordinator; focusing on workforce safety programs. Prior to that, she worked with Sanford Health Foundation as their Office Coordinator. Vanessa’s previous work experience includes 21 years in supervising Customer Service for various corporations in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
